NightStands

Ok now I tried building nightstands out of pallets! These were actually pretty easy to do.

I had some scraps left over from building the patio set and the wife and I needed some nightstands. Plus I was tired of looking at the folding tray things she had us using for the past 10 years. So I cut a few pieces of 2 x 4's down to 1 x 2's and framed out my stands, then put my shelves on. I was gonna wrap the sides with the pieces from the pallets but I found a partial sheet of  1/4" plywood on one of our jobs so I decided to use that instead. I'm glad I did cause I think they turned out better than I thought they would.

So they're not entirely from pallets  but that's ok, they're still 100% recycled and we like them anyways.

My First Project

I've always had an interest in building stuff with wood but never really had the space, but now I have a nice big shed with plenty of room. So I started collecting pallets and playing around building birdhouses, then I wanted to try building an outdoor patio set. My first real project!

After taking the pallet apart piece by piece and removing all the nails then sanding everything nice and clean, I started putting my first chair together. I think it turned out pretty good so I built 3 more.

                                                            Then I added a bench!

I found a pallet that was longer then the regular sized ones and built the table. We stained the legs with a minwax gunstock stain and used clear polyurethane for the tabletop, we really like the two tone of the table so I think we're gonna stain the legs on the chairs and the bench also then polyurethane the entire set. The wife and I love our new patio set! It's plenty big enough for our family of five.
